At first we signed up for group lessons that were strict and ineffective, and then we luckily found Hope. Nala, our nine-week-old Golden Retriever, was soon housebroken and let us know she needed to go out by ringing a bell at the door. Hope's style was so gentle for Nala and so easy for us to learn (even our four year old would help). With the guidance and training from Hope, our beautiful 66-pound puppy is the perfect addition to our family. We cannot thank Hope enough. She is truly amazing at what she does.

Private Lessons

We offer private lessons in your home. These provide us with the flexibility to tailor the lessons to your dog’s training needs and your personal goals.

The trainer will develop an individualized training program designed to meet your goals as well as the specific needs of your dog. The length of the program is determined by what your goals are in addition to any specific behavior problems you wish to address. Appointments are available both days and evenings as well as during the weekend.

At High Hopes Dog Training, we provide services to the greater Roanoke, VA area including Vinton, Riverdale, Cave Spring, Salem, Hanging Rock, Hollins, Cloverdale, Bonsack, and Franklin County.

Contact us for more information.

Group Classes

Our six week training courses are designed to help you better understand your puppy or dog while teaching them to be well-mannered members of your family. Information will include instruction on how dogs learn and how to communicate with other dogs in a way that they will naturally understand. This will provide you with a better understanding of why your dog does what he or she does. You will learn the most effective way to become a loving but fair and consistent leader through using positive reinforcement training methods and relationship building exercises. Dog obedience training is an ongoing process. Plan on spending 15-20 minutes each day working with your dog to gain the maximum benefit from these classes.

Puppy Kindergarten

The single most important (and fun) thing you can do for your puppy? Puppy Kindergarten!! For puppies between 10-24 weeks old, socialization with other puppies and people is crucial in order to help them become social, well-balanced dogs. While making lots of friends during off-leash playtime, your puppy will gain confidence by participating in activities and learning basic commands. Discussions for puppy parents include puppy development, house-training, destructive chewing, and play-biting.
